Hello and thank you for visiting my portfolio. The photographs in here are a sample of some of my work as a photographer. This portfolio is a work in progress and in due course, I will add new galleries, so if you like what you see, come back because there will be more.
I started to photograph seriously in 1987 when I went out to Indonesia for work armed with a secondhand Pentax ME Super and John Garrett and Julian Calder’s 35 Millimetre Handbook. Over the years and life in several different countries, my interest and skill burgeoned. What you can see here is some of what I’ve done over the last decade. For most of that time I lived and worked in Oman but spent much of the summer months in Europe, especially Germany.
As a photographer, I’m not tied to any one particular style or choice of subject. Neither do I feel any necessity to be so. I am constantly on the lookout for new types of subject, new ways of seeing the world and new techniques. However I especially like photographing cities because of the richness and depth of the subject matter I can find there and their constant capacity to surprise. Recently, I have developed an interest in macro and close-up photography because of the new aspects of the commonplace it can reveal.
Currently I’m working on other galleries to what you can already see here. They will be added very soon.
