Images of all sorts are, increasingly, a prominent feature of the contemporary urban landscape. They can take the form of paintings, photographs, sculptures, even mixed-media installations. They may exist as advertising, historical exhibits or street art. They may be architectural features. Sometimes they harmonize with their surroundings; sometimes they jar. The pictures here attempt to show how these images and their settings act upon each other. Most of these photographs were taken in Germany with a small number from Krakow in Poland and Tallinn, Estonia.
